idiots who never paid attention to predicted crude oil shortages and bought over-sized SUVs and trucks and my dingy little car will not even qualify because it already gets good milage? Welcome to Obama’s world: where the responcible bail out the irresponcible under the guise of ‘fairness’!

Answer by PETER GRIFFIN
Take your politics to the correct category, idiot.

If Dumbya hadn’t given out 0,000 tax breaks for Hummers, Escalades, Excursions, etc. during his administration, maybe there would be less gas guzzlers on the streets.

Or had that idiot not manipulated oil prices by buying up all the oil from private refinaries in 2001 which doubled oil prices overnight & invaded Iraq which put 1.5MILLION barrels of oil production daily offline, maybe gas prices would still be .50/gal!

Eco Friendly & Green Driving ? Endless Money & Fuel Saving Car Tips Part1

You are on a constant quest to enhance your fuel efficiency and save from fuel costs, regardless of whether you are driving a hybrid, compact or cng driven car. Your quest continues on the back of fluctuating car fuel prices which had been on a constant hike for a good part of 2008H1.

Shared below are simple yet proven effective ways on achieving fuel efficiency, saving gasoline and attaining maintenance cost savings:

• Get a car with high MPG, which calculates miles per gallon. Even better, check out the low GPM cars, gallons per mile which is logically lower the better. This is the ultimate objective, and really what we are discussing here, ie. the lesser the gasoline usage, the more miles coverage and the more savings from your higher fuel consumption.

• If you own a vehicle which heats up your car seats at the touch of a button, Do Not Touch that button. The energy consumption is exceptionally high. If your human counterparts have all survived the harsh winter without heated car seats, you could too.

Eco friendly car washing is another money saving idea. But, let me qualify that if you have to do it at home, you need to use biodegradable soap specifically formulated for automotive parts. Do it on your lawn instead of your driveway, so that the dirt and toxic waste water are absorbed and neutralized in soil. Otherwise, just patronize your local car wash. Their toxic waste water is drained into proper sewer systems and treated before being discharged.

• In summer, run your air conditioner sparingly at a low setting. When the car is sufficiently cool, switch to fan mode instead. Ensure that windows are tightly shut and not rolled down when the air conditioning is running

Rotate your tires to ensure even tire threading. This causes less strain to the engine.

Avoid traffic congestion as travelling in jam condition could consume more fuel. Rise early and get to work early whenever possible.

• In all weather all season, use windshield shades to cut down the summer heat and reduce frost in winter.

• When travelling at high speed, for instance, along highways, keep windows tightly closed. Open windows cause additional drag, making your engine work harder, and consuming more fuel.

• Plan trips well ahead before you set off to reduce unnecessary driving. Remember to check out the road conditions especially when driving in hash winter weather.

Over inflated tires can reduce your fuel efficiency. Remember to check your tire pressure and never overfill them. This is because you need to leave space air expansion when the tires get hot when driving.

• Conversely, you should avoid driving with soft tires. When soft and not at the correct PSI pounds per square inch, your car requires more energy to move and maintain speed as well as increase fuel emissions. According to a Carnegie Mellon University informal study, majority of cars on the roads are only 80% inflated to capacity and inflating tires to the proper pressure improves mileage by about 3.3%. And the best part is that it is definitely safer too. Stay tuned and check out even more environmentally friendly green car driving tips at my site.

Tips On Deconstructing Some Of The Information Circulating On Hybrid Cars

If youre someone looking for information on hybrid cars, the internet offers many interesting sites. Below are some examples of information available on the internet.

Basically, hybrid cars are normally, fuel efficient with two motors per vehicle. One motor is electric powered, while the other is gasoline powered. Also, hybrid cars have special systems to absorb energy produced during braking. This energy is stored in one of the batteries.

One website started its information on hybrid cars by posing the question: Why go hybrid, why not a straight gas or electric powered car? It went on to explain about one of the basic rules of science that the more complex the system is, the greater is the tendency to fail.

When used in relation to two motors, this complexity will mean the propensity of the motors to be more susceptible to breakdown. Accordingly, this is the reason why boat owners choose one motor instead of two. But this problem is a question provided that is legitimate, and as yet, is a question that experts have not fully explained.

Other websites also labored in explaining the two-motors, two-trouble concept.

One website based marketing company tried to explain the reason for the double-motor as a way to complement both motors strength and weaknesses. Electric motors were supposed to shut off, thereby saving on fuel, during inactivity. Gas motors on the other hand, will take over on high speed driving. During this high speed driving, the gas motor can give more power.

This means, the website went further in explaining that during rush hour when stop and go are more frequent, the electric motor will work its wonders. The electric motor during low speed driving does not produce exhaust, resulting in much reduced smog levels.

Another website adds information on hybrid cars and explains the benefit of having this type of hybrid vehicle by concentrating on its self-charging battery. This is achieved making it possible for the motor to recharge the battery onboard while it runs. This battery is then used by the electric motor for its use. With hybrid cars, the gas motor starts automatically when the battery is out of power, it gets low and charges it while running.

Still, another site concentrated its information on hybrid cars by offering an alternative opinion regarding hybrid cars. The site explained that the only draw back in the technology behind hybrid cars is the equivalent expense. It went into explaining that hybrid cars are outright expensive.

The two motors, says the site, is complex enough for maneuvering, because of its ancillary systems to be managed. With this come also the heavy battery and a regeneration system for electricity production during breaks.

This was quickly debunked by another website, in its information on hybrid cars section. It went on to explain that hybrid vehicles are the most fuel efficient of all vehicles.

Much of this efficiency, the site further explained, originates from an improved aerodynamics (less resistance against air), greatly reduced weight, and its smaller gas engine.

Aside from the information on hybrid cars mentioned above, some websites focused on the issue of environmental concerns related to hybrid cars. As a whole, hybrid vehicles offer some relief for the environment, in the long run. Even a minute reduction in fuel consumption would produce a huge amount of emission reduction.

Also, the said site continued, hybrid cars will serve as a desirable alternative in large cities, where pollution is worst. Since urban or semi-urban driving is usually characterized by slow-driving, hybrid cars are better suited for they give off low emissions during slow driving, particularly during heavy traffic.

The last website reviewed, with information on hybrid cars, concentrated on the performance aspect of the hybrid vehicles. This performance is based on the assumption that smaller gasoline engines are more efficient than larger ones. Since hybrid cars have smaller engines, hybrids have more efficiency in terms of fuel usage.

In a small engine, the efficiency can be assured by using smaller and lighter parts. This in turn will trim down the number of cylinders. Further, this will allow the engine to operate much closer to its maximum capacity.

Information on hybrid cars is not lacking on the internet. Each with different angle representing different interests. But at the end of the day, it is the interest of the consumer that counts.

Top 7 Disadvantages of Electric Cars

Soaring gas prices and environmental concerns, electric cars are becoming popular as an answer to some of the problems of the auto industry. However, do electric cars have a spotless reputation?

The following are their disadvantages of EVs voiced for some time now.

1. Charging Woes: Electric powered vehicles require charging stations, and for people to travel long distances there needs to be a network of such stations located strategically. Also recharging of batteries often takes about 3 hours, which nowhere matches efficiency of a gas refuel. And of course there’s the charging equipment you need to carry along.

2. Travelling distance (Range): The cars can travel only about a 100 miles on an average, and on a single charge. The technology of Chrysler’s proposed EVs is supposed to have the cars run longer, though.

3. Lack of power: In general electric cars are still behind gas powered vehicles in their ability to to accelerate and climb quickly.

4. Overloaded batteries: At the heart of electric automobiles are the car’s batteries. At the same time, as all other car accessories viz. radios, car air conditioners, etc. use up electric power from batteries, they’d drain quickly. And recharging them takes time!

5. They are expensive: Batteries that power these cars are a costly affair. Consider this: The promising and long-lasting lithium-ion batteries cost about US,000 each, which for the most part make these cars expensive. And if the batteries last only about 4 years, they could add to the maintenance costs.

6. The cause pollution: Yes, the ‘clean & green’ electric cars cause pollution too, albeit indirectly. While themselves being clean, there are toxic elements within batteries and which could spew toxic fumes. Further, the car’s engines are powered by electricity, and all of which isn’t generated from renewable energy sources. Which means electric power production per se entails pollution.

7. They’re Heavy: Batteries are what makes these vehicles heavy. A battery pack of an average electric car can weigh up to a 1,000 pounds or 450 kg (approx.) This a disadvantage because weight puts pressure on batteries and they drain out faster.

While the prospect of electric vehicles seems promising, electric vehicles don’t appear to be a pancea and have their own share of shortcomings. Consequently, a purchase decision in favor of EVs or hybrids might not be all that simple.

Can Water Power a Car?

Water Run Car has been the latest buzz. Can you really run a car on water? Is water-powered car a miracle or a scam?

More and more smart motorists are using alternative energy and gas-saving technologies to save gas and increase gas mileage. Recently, there are several Do-It-Yourself (DIY) kits such as Water4Gas, Super Water Car Secret, and Drive With Water Fuel etc claimed to provide such a solution which allow your car runs on water. Some claims are legitimate, some hypes are simple misleading.

Run Your Car on Water Is Possible Now! But Don’t Add Water to Gas Tank.

WATER RUN CAR FREE is actually NOT adding water to the gas tank as you might have thought. You’ve to think out of the box and out of the gas tank. There are many ways to increase gas mileage, but the most talked about, and of course most controversial gas-saving method is probable “run your car on water”.

The secret of adding water to car is to use a “kit” or a “system” to convert water to HHO or Brown’s Gas with the help of baking soda, Potassium Hydroxide (KOH), Sodium Hydroxide. Electric source is your car’s battery or from a rechargeable solar battery powered by thin aerodynamic solar panel attached to the car’s roof.

The Brown’s Gas acts as a stimulus to the gasoline. Brown’s Gas and gasoline mix together from two separate paths. HHO acts as an oxidant through air inflow to make gasoline burn more efficiently. HHO boosts octane and horse power. HHO is implosive and not explosive.

You really don’t need to wait and spend ,700 on such a system. In fact, this kind of knowledge has been around for a quite while. The cost varies from to 0, depends on which one you follow.

However, for a special price offer of .00 for a limited period, you may obtain the necessary kit and materials today from www.WaterRunCarFree.com

The benefits of running water car are obvious:

You can save gas immediately. WaterRunCarFree users have reported mileage improvement from 20% to 65% on average after converted their cars run on water.

100% safe and legal.

Conversions are not void manufactures warrant.

The cost is deductible on IRS, IRS has up to 00 cash rebate for hybrid vehicle.

Reduce emission and CO2, better environment, save the Earth.

AT THE COST OF FILLING UP ONE GAS TANK, A WORKING AND PROVEN SYSTEM IS WORTH TO GIVE A TRY.

2009 World Green Car

At a press conference hosted by the New York International Auto Show and Mobil 1 at the Jacob Javits Center in, New York, the Honda FCX Clarity was named the 2009 World Green Car. The FCX Clarity was chosen from an initial entry list of 22 contenders nominated by 59 World Car jurors from 25 countries worldwide.

“The FCX Clarity is a symbol of the progress we have made with fuel cell vehicles and our commitment to developing vehicles that promote renewable energy supplies and zero-emissions transportation,” said Steve Center, vice president, national Marketing Operations for American Honda.

The FCX Clarity, a sleekly styled hydrogen fuel cell-powered sedan currently available on a limited lease-basis, is propelled by an electric motor that runs on electricity generated by an on-board fuel cell stack. The vehicle’s only emission is water, and its fuel efficiency is up to three times that of a modern gasoline-powered automobile and two times that of a gasoline-powered hybrid vehicle.

The World Green Car awards were inaugurated in 2003, and officially launched in January 2004, to reflect the reality of the global marketplace, as well as to recognize and reward automotive excellence on an international scale.

What are Electric Cars?

The electric vehicle (EV), or, more colloquially, ZEV electric car, is gaining traction as a viable alternative form of personal transportation, and remains just out of arms’ reach as a mainstream way to get around. The cars run on energy stored in large packs of batteries instead of the more conventional internal combustion engine, making them very attractive to those concerned with using less oil and causing fewer greenhouse gas emissions. When driving, they don’t emit any carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gas, nor any nitrogen oxide or other smog-forming compound. The first electric car to be commercially available in the US, General Motors’ EV1, is pictured above, and much was made about who killed the electric car; keep reading to get the scoop on whodunit.

Before we dive in to the EV1, a little context: historically, EVs have had issues with high battery costs, limited travel distance between battery recharging, charging time, and battery lifespan, which have limited widespread adoption. Ongoing battery technology advancements have addressed many of these problems; many models have recently been prototyped, and a growing handful of future production models have been announced. Toyota, Honda, Ford and General Motors all produced EVs in the 1990s in order to comply with the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Zero Emission Vehicle Mandate, which was later defeated by the manufacturers and the federal government.

The EV1 was back in the news in 2006 with the documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car?” , a look at the development, limited commercialization and subsequent death of the car amid rumors of conspiracy and control from oil companies and the government. Though the car never achieved widespread use, the car was an important step forward, representing proof that such cars were technologically possible and viable with few modifications to the current transportation infrastructure.

Thankfully, there’s a new generation of electric cars and vehicles here to pick up where the EV1 left off; keep reading to learn more about the Tesla, better battery technology, and more. New electric vehicles: powered by better batteries. Since the “death” of the EV1 and the development of battery chemistries better suited to power something as large as a car, there have been big claims from a growing number of manufacturers about bringing EVs to the market.

Tesla Roadster: leading the electric car “charge”
Not least of these is the Tesla Roadster, pictured above (read the latest on Tesla here). Offering gaudy numbers like 0-60 in 4 seconds, the equivalent of 135 miles per gallon, more than 200 miles per charge and a price tag hovering around 0,000, Tesla’s hot-rod looks and performance have become the poster child for the next generation of EVs, and several other manufacturers have thrown their hat into the battery-powered ring as well.

Between them all, they offer a wide variety of styles, levels of performance and price; after Tesla’s two-seater sexiness, Miles Automotive Group’s XS 500 (pictured above) represents the sensible family sedan under ,000 and Phoenix Motorcars offers an electric pick-up truck. All offer the zero-emission (while driving, at least) alternative and the ability to get up to a couple hundred miles per charge while achieving highway-like speeds. Though these examples were developed to be driven like conventional cars, they excel at the shorter, commuter-type trips that dominate much of our driving these days. And, of course, the prototype caveat remains: none of the above cars has come to market, leaving a question mark on their true performance and viability until they show up at a dealership near you.

Electric Car Motor Conversion – DIY Electric Vehicle Conversion

Most people nowadays are considering doing an electric car motor conversion. This is because of the rising fuel prices that inflated their car gasoline expense bill. With most household having more than one car, gasoline expenses have become a major issue. Unfortunately, sending a car to a professional garage to be retrofitted into an Electric Vehicle (EV) will cost more than 00. The investment is too high for most car owners. An alternative is to do an electric car motor conversion via a Do It Yourself (DIY) project from home.

To initiate a DIY electric car conversion project from home is not a difficult process. As long as you have the necessary tools and workspace, you can do the retrofitting yourself. What you will need is a good EV conversion guide to assist you.

The idea of electric vehicle conversion is to replace the internal combustion engine with an electric motor. Without the engine, all its associated components such as gas tank, fuel line and radiator is also removed. This will create a lot of free space where a batteries rack can be installed. A series of lead acid batteries will supply the power to the electric motor. To control the speed of the EV, a variable resistant is attached between the batteries and the electric motor. It will act as the accelerator paddle of the car.

To retrofit a car to run on electric is definitely cost effective. If is even cheaper if you can spend some time sourcing for second hand electric motor and batteries. With gasoline prices expected to go higher, any solution that can cut fuel cost would be a blessing.

Are high gasoline prices stresses you out? Why not consider driving an Electric Car. Experience the cost saving benefits of an electric vehicle by exploring Electric Motor Conversion Guides. Download the first preview chapter of “Build Your Own Electric Car” e-book at http://www.cbElectricCar.com

Are Electric Cars Still the Wave of the Future?

With all the hype and then subsequent let down of the electric car movement many people are beginning to wonder if these cars will ever become mainstream or if they will remain the occasional oddity on the road. Many gas-electric hybrids by companies like Toyota, Ford, Lexus and Mercury are already enjoying some success, but true electric cars are still not capable of attaining the speed or traveling distance required to make them a viable alternative to the gas guzzling vehicles that many Americans are still driving. And the cost is still prohibitive for the average person as well. Saving money on fuel expenses isn’t likely to help the average household afford a vehicle in the ,000 to 0,000 price range any time soon.

Keeping Kurrent in the Neighborhood

Still, electric vehicles are getting better and there are some inexpensive models on the road from independent companies like American Electric with their Kurrent selling for around ,000. However, this is not a family vehicle as it only seats two people. It isn’t meant for cruising down the highway either, the manufacturers suggest that people need to “slow down” a bit anyway and tout this vehicle as a “neighborhood vehicle”. This would be perfect for college students or people who live a short distance from work, but it won’t replace your regular vehicle just yet. Meanwhile, countries like Norway have been driving electric cars like the Think which can go 112 miles on a charge at top speeds of 62 mph for years now and these vehicles are expected to hit US markets within the next couple of years for less than ,000.

Innovations on the Rise

Most Americans aren’t ready to settle for driving 30-100 miles on a charge and then waiting many hours to get back on the go and so the car manufacturers are still working hard to overcome the obstacles and build better batteries and vehicle designs that will extend the driving distance and increase speed. Ideas being developed include hydrogen fuel cells and plug-in hybrid. Either manufacturers are going to have to find a way to create electric vehicles that are comparable in performance and price to conventional vehicles or Americans are going to have to alter their lifestyles by limiting the number of hours driven per day and their driving speed. Since the latter is unlikely in the near future, automakers will have to keep working on new designs.

Weighing the Options

There are several good, inexpensive electric vehicles on the market right now for people who travel short distances to work or to the grocery store like the Kurrent, the Fly bo (made in China), and the GEM. There are also more expensive electric cars like the Venturi Fetish that top out at speeds of 100mph and have an equally impressive price tag at over 0,000 in the US. Meanwhile, it will likely still be few years into the future before the electric car becomes a viable option for the majority of people in the United States.

The American Electric Car

GM is not the first and certainly will not be the last American auto manufacturers to create a mass marketed electric car. GM did it in the 90′s with the “EV” which was a success to the consumers, but not for GM as it was more of a test car. They are working on a car, the “Volt” which will be designed to travel 40 miles solely on battery power. Something like 75% of Americans travel less than 40 miles in their commute to work. So it can provide a clean means to travel and will have a small engine for those with greater distances. The Volt is highly anticipated to charge into American’s lives.

Growing Popularity of Electric Cars

Europe has umteen Electric motorcar motorcars seen on numerous roadways, normally in the chockablock cities or urban regions where getting around town is a bit distinct than it is in the US. On the other hand, the Electric motorcar motorcars being manufactured today are not like the ones of a few ages back that could only get up to 30MPH and canbe driven a few miles before requiring reloaded.

Today’s Electric automobiles you can find are a bit smallish than the full sized cars we are use to however, they will well seat four adults, but nothing more. normally the style is like to a two-door hatchback. Other ease or necessaries you will find are airbags, seat belts, and air-conditioning. Not only will you savor these characteristics but also the new Electric automobile automobiles can get up to speeds of around 60MPH and move for about 12 hours without breaking and recharging.

The Electric Automobile cars are unthoughtful urban Electric cars as most masses will still not wish to use them on long trips, however, even in larger cities or going from the urban regions to the big urban centers, they will be great. The idea is that you will be able to go longer and faster than before so the Electric motorcar motorcar will be more attractive for those that live in large cities or in the urban areas and travel to the city for work.

At this time, Ford and Nissan are trying out these Electric cars and Daimler-Chrysler is under sign up for the Zap! Smart motorcar to the US. In the past, the Zap! Smart car was imported to the US and then modified to meet the safety standards of the US.

Why are these Electric Automobile vehicles on the Rise? The answer is quite plain. The Electric Automobile car does not let loose carbon dioxide or other harmful gases into the air. Along with this, in the UK, if you have a automobile that does not emit carbon-dioxide you do not have to pay motorcar tax. In the UK, the car tax you pay is defined by the amount of CO2 your vehicle emits, the more your car emits the more you give in car tax. One more great cause to view buying an Electric automobile car is that they are compact, are easy to drive in congested areas, and you can find a spacing space much quicker.

Electric car automobiles are advantageous for the environment while allowing all individuals the chance to get around town or the area, but in a diminutive more compact way. Research is still being done and of course, more Electric automobile motorcars are being made. This means that before long, you will see umteen improvements in the speed and the space you can move between recharges.
